The problem of mass transfer in a fluid flow past a wedge with a chemical reaction of the first order at the surface is investigated. The approach suggested previously by Apelblat [1] for the solution of a mass transfer problem with a first order chemical reaction at the interface in boundary layer

✦ Synopsis
Based on a new analytical method, namely homotopy analysis method (HAM), an approximate analytical solution to the Falkner-Skan wedge flow; with the boundary conditions of f ð0Þ ¼ c > 0; f 0 ð0Þ ¼ 0; f 0 ðþ1Þ ¼ 0, i.e. the permeable wall mass transfer conditions of uniform suction, is given. The comparisons are also made between the results of the present work and numerical method by 4th-order Runge-Kutta method combined with Newton-Raphson technique. It is found that the results of the present work agree well with those by numerical method, which verifies the validity of the present work.
