✦ Synopsis

Professor Jan C. Willems obtained his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from MIT in 1968. He is presently Professor of systems and control at the Mathematics Institute of the University of Groningen. He is on the editorial board of several journals in the field and a frequent contributor of research papers. His present interests lie principally in the geometric theory of linear systems and in problems of system representation.
