✦ Synopsis
BOOK REVIEWS. 5o3
A survey is given of the achievements of the theory up to 1929. The subjects include the theory of the Zeeman and Stark effects, the scattering of x-rays, the emission of electrons from cold metals, the photo-electric effect and the relationship of the theory to the statistics of systems of many degrees of freedom (Bose Fermi). The last part discusses the attempts hitherto made to interpret the theory and contains comments on the concepts involved.
The work is a classic which should afford much of value to those concerned with basic physical thought.
