✦ Synopsis
We introduce the fundamentals of optical carrier Brillouin processing and discuss its applications to the field of microwave photonics. This signal processing technique is based on the control of the amplitude as well as the phase of the optical carrier of a modulated lightwave signal using the stimulated Brillouin scattering effect. Application of the technique to improve the performance of microwave/millimeter-wave fiber links is experimentally demonstrated. 2002 Elsevier Science (USA)

## Abstract A novel and simple system based on stimulated Brillouin scattering in long fiber ring for optical‐carrier suppression is presented. In this system, a large optical carrier reduction can be attained easily at relative low input power. The anti‐Stokes wave is inhibited by adjusting the St
