โฆ Synopsis
Magnetic drive pumps are currently still expensive and rotary designs are no exception. They do, however, provide absolutely leak free operation in normal use. Pumping applications that may desire or demand such leak free operation include the handling of liquids that are toxic, explosive, corrosive, radioactive, costly, government regulated for emissions, difficult to seal using conventional sealing technologies, or otherwise hazardous or noxious. In addition, there are pumping applications where housekeeping appearances are very important. James Brennan explains where mag-drive rotary PD pumps fit in.

## Most pump manufacturers offer an option with magnetic drive. A few manufacturers adapt standard magnetic couplings made by others to their pump which allows them to make some savings in development costs, but unfortunately this does not optimise the match between the hydraulic wet end and the mag
