Local measurements of solid concentration in depth wound cartridge ®lters using X-ray computerized tomography (XCT) are described. The ®lters were contaminated with glass bead particles, which exhibit high contrast in the tomographic images. Segmentation of the successive ori-ginal slices was applied and solid pro®le concentrations along the ®lters were obtained. 3D reconstruction techniques permitted the modeling of the spatial distribution of the solid particles captured by the ®lters.
