Abstract
The complete assignment of ^1^H and ^13^C data of an unsymmetrical monosubstitute bisporphyrin based on an extensive application of twoโdimensional ^1^H๏ฃฟ^1^H, ^1^H๏ฃฟ^13^C and ^13^Cโ^13^C shift spectroscopy is described. The ^1^H๏ฃฟ^1^H shift correlation through dipolar interaction (2D NOESY) was essential to prove the connection of the alkyl fragments and to distinguish protons spatially close but belonging to different units. The additive structural increments method allowed the assignment of the quatenary carbons of tolyl residues.

A new non-Fourier data processing algorithm, the filter diagonalization method (FDM), is presented and applied to phase-sensitive 1D and 2D NMR spectra. FDM extracts parameters (peak positions, linewidths, amplitudes, and phases) directly from the time-domain data by fitting the data to a sum of dam
