The wavelet transform was applied to Raman spectra to remove heteroscedastic noise from ancient pigments such as azurite and ultramarine blue. Wavelets from the Daubechies, Coiflet and Symmlet families were evaluated. Two different thresholding strategies on the detail coefficients were applied; the

Abstract
The Raman spectra of ethanolic solutions of CCl~4~ of different concentrations were measured and deβnoised by the wavelet transform method. The results show that noise can be filtered efficiently without changing the peak positions and the linear relationships between the peak intensity and the concentration can be maintained. It was demonstrated that the wavelet transform method can be used efficiently in quantitative analysis of Raman spectra with high noise levels. Copyright Β© 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Raman spectroscopy is a useful tool for identifying polymorphs of pharmaceutical compounds. One limitation of the technique is that the small differences in Raman spectra require confirmation of polymorphs by other methods. Fourteen compounds, both commercial and proprietary pharmaceutical compounds
Near-infrared (785 nm) excitation was used to obtain Raman spectra from a series of 33 solid mixtures containing cocaine, caffeine and glucose (9.8-80.6% by weight cocaine), which were then analysed using chemometric methods. Principal component analysis of the data was employed to ascertain what fa
