โœฆ Synopsis

The transfer-matri.. method is used to describe the occupation of a lattice of sites in equilibrium with bulk solution, thus giving a model for adsorption from solution (or binding or reaction). Numerical illustration is given using the zeroth approximation of the quasi-crystalline model for the bulk phase. Application of the method to two-dimensional systems involving orientation effects and phase changes is briefly discussed.

Viologen polymers (PV 2 ) with carbon chain spacers were prepared by the polymeric reaction with poly(4vinyl pyridine). These polymers were used as an electrontransfer catalyst (ETC) for the reduction of azobenzene, either in a ZnยฑPV 2 system (reductant: Zn, in CH 3 CN/ H 2 O) or in a Na 2 S 2 O 4 ยฑ
