Abstract
The concurrent complementary operators method (CβCOM) has been demonstrated to be a highly effective mesh truncation technique for the simulation of electromagnetic openβregion transient or timeβharmonic problems. In previous work, the CβCOM was applied to analytically derived absorbing boundary conditions (ABCs). In this work, we show that the CβCOM can be applied to the wider class of highly effective and versatile numerically derived ABCs. As a demonstration of the validity of this generalization, we consider the case of a Liao ABC, and show that high accuracy can be obtained.βΒ© 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Generalized wall functions in application to high-Reynolds-number turbulence models are derived. The wall functions are based on transfer of a boundary condition from a wall to some intermediate boundary near the wall (usually the first nearest to the wall mesh point but that is not obligatory). The numerical solution of homogenization equations by the finite element (FE) method is explained briefly. The issue of extracting boundary conditions from the periodicity assumption is addressed and a direct method utilizing symmetry is presented. Using this method, the computation of the elements
Determination of the temperature fluctuations in the combustion-chamber walls of an engine is one of many engineering applications requiring calculation of the temperature distribution in a body exposed to periodically varying boundary conditions. In this paper it is shown that, under suitable circu
