Laser diodes (LD) are investigated as a suitable light source of a transmitter for an optical intersatellite link (ISL). The requirements for an LD are high power, a single-lobed beam, and a high-speed direct modulation capability. In this study, concerning a high-power LD of 1-watt output class, th

Abstract
A convenient technique for the exact determination of the longitudinal cavity modes of a distributed feedโback (DFB) laser is presented. The method employs the argument principle method (APM) to find the singular points of the characteristic equation derived from consideration of the counter propagating coupled modes within the cavity. The method is applied to both linear and circular grating laser diodes. Copyright ยฉ 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Various computational methods have been studied with respect to their suitability for obtaining very accurate solutions of plate vibration problems, especially for the higher modes. Because of the interest in the higher modes, also higher order effects such as transverse shear deformation and rotati
