Brush-Contact Resistance. ALFRED HAY, ~,~. H. BRATT, and J. M. PARISH. (EIectr. World, lxii, 5,245')'--An illustrated account of experiments in brush-contact resistance, the main object of which was to ascertain how far the brush-contact drop is affected by the rotation of the commutator. In the method used care was taken to eliminate the effect of electromotive force in the armature due to imperfect commutation. The conclusion is reached that the brushcontact loss when a machine is running is, for all practical purposes, identical with that which occurs in a stationary armature, so that the loss can be easily determined by measurement with the armature at rest. This result agrees with that of several other experimenters, but differs radically from the results of Gratzmuller.
