โœฆ Synopsis

Comparing the composition of essential oils obtained by headspace gas chromatography (HSGC) and conventional hydrodistillation from needles of Pinus sylvestris L., a selective loss of low boiling terpene hydrocarbons can be observed by the latter technique. HSGC is therefore more suitable for quantification of highly volatile compounds than the hydrodistillation technique.
