A new finite difference scheme with minimal phase-lag for the numerical solutton of fourth-order differential equations with engineering applications is developed in this paper. Numerical and theoretical results show that this new approach is more efficient compared with previously derived methods.
The finite element method is used to describe the detailed properties of the atmospheric boundary layer by use of a high-resolution model and its bulk properties by use of a simple vertically integrated model. Features of the finite element method that can be exploited for applications to the atmosp
