This paper has two aims. The first aim is to investigate the behavior of recently introduced fifth-order compact upwind differencing (CUD5) in conjunction with different high-order time stepping schemes by the examples of 10 and (2 \mathrm{D}) advection (including the test on the sphere with the flow over the poles).
