✦ Synopsis

In order to transfer map images for current navigation systems, a conventional facsimile-communication was applied to a navigation system using a notebook-type PC, a mobile telephone, etc. The functional requirement of this system is that drivers should be able to transfer map images, including information on routes to their destination. Also they can consult optional routes available via the system. Using the new system, the image displayed was sufficiently legible when using a color LCD with 320;240 dots in gray tone. The size of the image displayed on the LCD was reduced to -scale from the received image.
