Abstract
This article reviews the current state of active structural control in building applications. A variety of structural control technologies have been developed which are now being extensively employed in many structures. However, in terms of active structural control, only Japan has implemented active control systems in real fullβsize buildings. To date more than 20 buildings in Japan have employed active systems. Details of these active control buildings are summarized in this article.

## Abstract In Japan, applications of active/hybrid mass dampers have steadily progressed since the first application in 1989. Particularly, applications of hybrid mass dampers with convertible active and passive modes have recently progressed because their effectiveness has been gradually recogniz
## Abstract Vibration of longβspan bridges can be caused by various types of dynamic excitation, windβinduced vibration may be the most critical for longβspan bridges such as suspension bridges and cableβstayed bridges. Typical example are pylons, and wind induced vibration of these during erection
Vibration causes noise, environmental pollution, human fatigue and injury. In addition, it results in structural fatigue, lowering the strength and safety of the structure, and reducing the accuracy and reliability of the equipment in the system. In order to ensure the safety of the structure and to
A systematic design procedure and an algorithm are devised for variable gain feedback (VGF) control of buildings with active mass damper (AMD) systems. The limit of the stroke length of the auxiliary mass, which is considered to be one of the most important physical constraints for application of AM
