✦ Synopsis

Microstructured reactors are a suitable tool to study highly exothermic reactions under approximately isothermal conditions. The catalytic material is deposited on the reactor wall in order to avoid a high pressure drop and to improve the heat transfer from the catalyst to the wall. It is shown that the oxidative dehydrogenation of propane can be carried out isothermally over a wide range of experimental conditions when microstructured reactors with a great number of parallel channels are used.
