✦ Synopsis

A technique has been developed to use the computer program MULT-EFFECT to assess the performance of an evaporator desalination plant under conditions other than those for which it was designed. As an example ofthe method, a detailed study of the predicted behaviour of the Gibraltar VTE plant has been made for a variety of off-design conditions. This report discusses the philosophy underlying the technique, and presents the results obtained for the Gibraltar study.
