✦ Synopsis


The gamma induced polymerizations of iso-butyl-(i-BMA) and dodecyl-(DDMA) methacrylates under non-stationary conditions have been studied, utilizing a calorimetric method already used for other methacrylates.

For both monomers, the polymerization rate was found to vary linearly with (dose rate)½ at the dose rates and temperatures examined. The rate constants for propagation and termination are compared with those of methyl-, ethyl-, n-butyl-and cyclohexyl methacrylate; the results are discussed.
