Walker & Co Ltd has formed eight new manufacturing divisions to respond to rapid expansion in its UK and worldwide markets over the past financial year.
Each division will operate as a seK contained mlnl-business, controlled from the company's new headquarters at Lion House, Woking, UK. This HQ is on part of the urban site previously occupied by James Walker's Lion Works factory which dated back to the 1920s. Manufacturing is now split between two more modern plants at Cockermouth, Cumbria, and Old Woking, Surrey, together with a smaller facility at West Bromwich, West Midlands.
The main UK sales thrust comes from 11 regional sales centres across the country, which hold off-the-shelf stocks targeted to the demands of local industry.
The new divisional structure is: Cockermouth: compression packing division, cut gasket division, fluid seal division, O-ring centre; Old Woklng: jointings & extrusions division, polymer engineering division, EMC Centre; and West Bromwlch: engineering services division.
