We calculate the single particle scattering properties of cylindrical particles with the iterative version of the Coupled Dipole Method (CDM), and using these results we discuss the validity regime of the Rayleigh-Gans-Debye (RGD) theory. The CDM includes, contrary to RGD scattering, the higher orde
