โœฆ Synopsis

An apparatus which rapidly provides and maintains constant oxygen partial pressure from 1 to 150 Torr (1.4 to 2 11 ELM) in suspensions of respiring rat hepatocytes (0.50-0.87 pM s-l) was developed. Voltage output from a Clark-type electrode in an incubation vessel regulates oxygen flow into the vessel to control solution oxygen concentration at a predetermined level. After maintenance of cell suspensions (4-15 ml) for 10 to 30 min, metabolism can be quenched and examined.
