Applications of Phase Transfer Catalysis. Extraction of Hydrogen Halides and Hydrogen Peroxide into Nonpolar Media

Attention is drawn to a process designated “extraction by hydrogen bonding”: Compounds like HX or HOOH are extracted by quaternary ammonium salts into nonpolar media in form of ion pairs [NR~4~+HX~2~] or [NR~4~^+^X^−^ ⃛ HOOH]. Factors involved in these processes are investigated.
