Abstract

A scattering model of interference between the Franck–Condon and Herzberg–Teller terms was studied in the preresonance regions of hyper‐Raman spectroscopy. It is shown how profound antiresonance effects are connected with molecular properties such as potential curve displacement and vibronic coupling parameters.

## Abstract Resonance Raman spectra, obtained with 676.4 and 752.5 nm excitation, are reported for the carotenoid molecule astaxanthin __in situ__ in the shell of a lobster. The spectra show unusual frequency shifts and absolute intensity behaviour in the case of 676.4 and 752.5 nm excitation, resp

The characterization of human tissues for biomedical purposes using spectroscopic techniques is of growing interest owing to the richness of the information that they provide. Particularly in the case of skin (stratum corneum) and nail, Ñuorescence has been a drawback to the use of Raman spectroscop
