β¦ Synopsis
T h e clinical usefulness of methylglyoxal-bis(guanylhydra6one) (CH,-G) as an antileukemic agent is reduced by its substantial toxicity. Of more than 200 analogues of CH,-G tested, none showed significant antileukemic effects in mice. T w o aromatic bisguanylhydrazones with borderline activity h a d marked effects against leukemia L1210 in DBA/2 H a mice when given in combination with hydroxystilbamidine. Since the diamidine h a d only borderline activity when given alone, this represents a n unusual example of synergism in cancer chemo-
