β¦ Synopsis
Immunoelectrophoretic analysis of adsorbed heterologous antiserum indicated
that rhabdomyosarcomas induced by nickel sulfide gained four to five "tumorspecific" antigens and lost one to two "muscle-specific" antigens. Serum from tumor-bearing and immunized rats contained tumor-specific antibodies, as shown by the indirect fluorescent antibody technique to stain cultured tumor cells. Antigen appeared to be located in the cytoplasm. Cells from different tumors did not cross-react significantly but cells from a transplantable tumor did cross-react with each other through successive generations.
