✦ Synopsis


The magnetic properties of the Ndl ,Sr,CuO 1 R system are studied by powder neutron diffraction. Formally reduced samples (X s 0.06) show similar magnetic behaviour to undoped Nd,CuO,, while in formally oxidised ones (0.1 s x c 0.2) the long range Cu antiferromagnetic order is rapidly destroyed upon hole doping. The metal-insulator transition in Nd, ISr,CuO, R lies above the solubility limit of Sr" in Nd,CuO,.
