Abstract
Antibodies specific for the tetrapeptide Gly‐Gly‐Gly‐Gly have been obtained in rabbits immunized with the peptide linked to an autologous carrier. Conjugation was performed using glutaraldehyde. Peptide‐carrier conjugates contained only one or two molecules of peptide per carrier molecule.
After secondary immunization, some of the rabbits produced anti‐tetrapeptide antibodies which were isolated from individual sera using tetrapeptide‐Sepharose immunoadsorbent. The amount obtained varied from 20 to 200 μg/ml of serum. Isolated specific anti‐tetrapeptide antibodies were found to belong to both IgG and IgM classes. The IgG antibodies as analyzed by isoelectric focusing showed a very restricted pI spectrum. Both IgG and IgM antibodies showed a restricted allotypic specificity.
