✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Guided by a biological screening with a cell assay, the first HIV‐1 inhibitor from a gliding bacterium, phenoxan (1), was isolated. The structure of 1 was determined by spectroscopic methods to be a substituted oxazole‐γ‐pyrone, showing a remarkable similarity to aureothin (2) and spectinabilin (3).
