β¦ Synopsis
A case is presented in which a 29-year-old married woman developed anorexia nervosa following an &year history of multiple sclerosis. She was admitted to a specialized eating disorders unit for refeeding following a dramatic reduction in her body weight.
The multidetermined nature of anorexia nervosa is well documented in the literature, and several variables such as age, sex, class, race, and sociocultural issues have been identified as having etiological significance (Buchan & Gregory, 1984).
There has been a proliferation of unusual cases of anorexia nervosa . We would like to add, what is to our knowledge, the first published case of the development of anorexia nervosa in a woman with an 8year history of multiple sclerosis. Her history as well as her progress in hospital is documented.
