✦ Synopsis

The photoluminescence (PL) behavior of porous Si has been investigated and anomalous PL effects have been discovered which, for certain etching techniques, show an enhancement and oscillatory dependence on the laser power. A variety of etching methods have been studied and conditions have been determined which give these PL effects. Micro-Raman measurements indicate some correlation between these effects and the crystalline structure of the material.
