✦ Synopsis
Anomalous short-range spin correlations have been observed in the low carrier materials YbP and YbAs at temperatures far above T N using neutron inelastic scattering. The main component of the observed spin correlations above TN is different from that which gives rise to the long-range order below TN and is common to the two compounds YbP and YbAs. The anomalies in the magnetic specific heat in the compounds are ascribed to the development of the anomalous spin correlation at temperatures well above TN.

We study the influence of short range antiferromagnetic correlations between local f-electrons on the transport and thermodynamic properties of Kondo insulators. We use a Kondo lattice model with an additional Heisenberg interaction w x between nearest neighboring f-moments, as first proposed by Coq
