✦ Synopsis

The rib wa¨eguide is a guiding structure that has a great ¨ersatility in the design of optical components. The group ¨elocity ( ) dispersion GVD is of great concern in such designs. A FEM formulation of the problem and a second-order perturbation of the obtained matrix eigen¨alue equation allow us to e¨aluate the wa¨eguide component of GVD in a practical structure. Proper ¨ariation of the parameters of the guide allows us to control the dispersion particularly its sign.
