โฆ Synopsis
Two-phase flow is one of the most common flows of fluids in nature as well as in industrial applications. It covers gas-solid, liquid-liquid, solid-liquid, and gas-liquid flows. In spite of the very large amount of work done in this field, the state of the knowledge is such that a full understanding of the basic phenomena is limited to a restricted variety of two-phase flow problems. Therefore, reliable design tools are rarely available for much of the equipment in which two-phase flow occurs. The main reason for this lies in the extreme complexity of two-phase fluid flows, where, because of the frequent scarcity of local experimental information, it is sometimes practically impossible to extend theoretical models proved to be reliable in single-phase flow. In other cases, the interface between the phases can have a very complex shape, and the distribution of the phases themselves is often difficult to systematically understand.
The objective of the Symposium is to bring together researchers, designers, experimentalists, modelers, and numerical analysts from industry, laboratories, and academia active in the area of two-phase flow to present the state of the art, to exchange their expertise and experiences, and to further stimulate their research activities. The Symposium is organized by the Assembly of World Conferences on Experimental Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, and Thermodynamics.
At the Symposium, keynote lecturers at each morning and afternoon session will present state-of-the-art reviews on experimentation and modeling of two-phase flows.
Contributed papers are solicited dealing with experimental work, theory, analysis, design, numerical studies, modeling on fundamentals, and applications of two-phase flow, including heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanic, and thermodynamic aspects. Papers are also solicited reporting measurement techniques, visualization techniques,
