โœฆ Synopsis

CSCA) is a multidisciplinary consortium in which biologists, psychologists, linguists, logicists, mathematicians joined forces to study and teach about the wonder of human cognition. A salient feature of CSCA is its strong experimental and theoretical/formal orientation. This characteristic provides unique opportunities for interdisciplinary research and allows for a Cognitive Science curriculum focusing on integrated themes and team teaching. As of 2003, CSCA launched a Lectures Series aiming at communicating recent advances in Cognitive Science to a broad audience interested in the structure and function of cognition, natural or artificial. The lectures are given by outstanding scholars from a variety of disciplines, including neurobiology, psychology, linguistics, computer science, and philosophy. In addition, CSCA organizes summer schools on various topics in Cognitive Science (the 2004 topic is Memory: an interdisciplinary perspective). The schools comprise lectures, hands-on workshops and discussion sessions led by senior investigators in the field. The programming of the schools is centered around the Nico Frijda honorary chair in Cognitive Science (in 2004 held by professor Richard Morris of Edinburgh University).

Information on CSCA, the Cognitive Science curriculum, lectures series, and summer schools can be found at the CSCA website: http://www.csca.uva.nl/csca/home.cfm.
