In 1996, on the occasion of journal founder Olgierd C. Zienkiewicz's 75th birthday, John Wiley and Sons, Inc. established a biennial award named in his honor. Zienkiewicz founded Wiley's International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, which has been the premier journal in its ®eld for more than 30 years. A prize of £1,000 and a silver medal is awarded by Wiley to a researcher under the age of 35 for the paper
