Professor Sergei Pereverzev, from the Ukrainian Academy of Science, is the second winner of the Prize. He was cited for ``numerous outstanding contributions to information-based complexity.''

The Awards Committee consisted of Erich Novak, Joseph F. Traub, and Henryk Wozniakowski. The award will be presented at the Workshop on Algorithms and Complexity for Continuous Problems at Schloss Dagstuhl in September 2000.

The prize for Achievement in Information Based Complexity carries an award of 83000 and a plaque.
