In connection with the synthesis of ¢ytotoxic annonaceous acetogenin analogs, e]~ntiomerically pure threo (and erythro)-trans THF synthons have been p~epered from D-glucose. These synthons are characterized by the presence of two methoxy (or hydroxy) groups in the THF ring. each in a c/s configuration with rcsp~t to the vieinal side chain.
