AnMspI polymorphism in the X-specific region proximal to the pseudoautosomal boundary. A new example of a unique “African” marker?

✦ Synopsis

A polymorphic MspI site was located in the Xspecific region proximal to the pseudoautosomal boundary. Two alleles defined by the absence or the presence of the MspI site were detected by the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in a sample of Bantu-speaking individuals from Cameroon. No variation for this site was observed in a population sample from Italy.
