✦ Synopsis
CH-8092 Zurich (25.111.86) Lipophilic Co(II1) and Mn(II1) complexes of 5,10,15,20-tetrakis[4-(hexyloxycarbonyl)phenyl]porphyrin act as positively charged carriers for anions and induce anion selectivities in membranes clearly deviating from the sequence of classical anion exchangers. Different anion selectivities are observed for the Co(1II) and Mn(II1) porphyrins. ') Membrane compositions, see Exper. Part.

## Abstract The principles, recent achievements and challenges related to the use of metalloporphyrins as ionophores in the development of polymeric anion‐selective membranes are reported. The advantages and disadvantages of dimer‐monomer equilibria existing within the membrane phase when using cer
Zero-current counter-transport studies as well as electrodialytic transport experiments on solvent polymeric membranes doped with ionophores for anions have been carried out and were compared with potentiometric measurements on the same membranes. A theoretical description of the observed phenomena
Metalloporphyrins [Mn(III) and In(III)] are investigated as active polymer fihn components in the design of reversible anion-selective optical sensors. The optical measurements are made by casting thin plasticiied polymer films (PVC, polyurethane, etc.) containing the given metalloporphyrhts on glas
