✦ Synopsis

Alkylation of tricyclodecadienone ester 4 leads to alkyl enones 6 in excellent yields. Due to severe steric congestion, these enones 6 undergo an unusually rapid [3+3] skeletal rearrangement to bridged ketones 7.
