This case report describes a patient who developed an aneurysmatic dilation of a coronary artery 6 months after successful primary stent implantation. The dilation occurred within the stented segment of the artery. To our knowledge, this is the first report of the development of an aneurysm, in the
Restenosis following coronary angioplasty can usually be treated effectively and safely by repeated angioplasty. However, the presence of a complex lesion morphology may bias the clinician away from angioplasty toward either recommending bypass surgery or continuing medical therapy alone in spite of
lntravascular ultrasound (IVUS) was used to study 104 lesions in 98 patients after excimer laser coronary angioplasty (ELCA). Lesion site external elastic membrane (EEM) and lumen cross-sectional areas (CSA) were measured; plaque + media (P + M = EEMlumen) CSA and percentage of cross-sectional narro
We report the case of a coronary aneurysm observed 6 mo after cutting balloon angioplasty complicated by a mild perforation. Intravascular ultrasound allowed characterization of the malformation as a true aneurysm. The clinical course was uneventful.
