โฆ Synopsis
16.95 I like this book, which is written for medical students and other physicians interested in a very basic overview of plastic surgery. The book is divided into two sections; the first is called basic concepts and includes chapters on history, fundamental techniques, wound care, wound closure, wound healing, incisions, and scar revisions. The second section deals with clinical entities and includes chapters on esthetic surgery, breast reconstruction, facial injuries, thermal injuries, skin tumors, head and neck tumors, pediatric plastic surgery, hand surgery, and microsurgery.
The book is clearly written for a third-or fourthyear medical student, and would be of use even to an intern, although certain areas would be too elementary. It certainly is not thorough enough for a skilled surgeon, especially one with expertise in plastic and re- constructive surgery, although it gives a good description of wound closure and care. The book is extremely readable, particularly since it has been typeset doublespaced. Its literary quality is good. There are a large number of black and white drawings, which have been very well designed, produced, and incorporated into the text. Many are original drawings of artistic quality, some with a n element of humor.
