✦ Synopsis

In this paper, the analytical solutions of rigid (without the contact deformation) impact problems of two typical rod structures with elastic supports are given. The effects of boundary conditions upon wave propagation and impact responses are thoroughly analyzed by illustrative examples, and there are no difference between results obtained here and those of wave theory. The nonlinear impact problem of a particle on a rod is also studied, and the validity of the adopted solving technique is verified by the comparison with known method.
