โœฆ Synopsis


The density matrix of a spin 3/2 subject to a first-order quadrupole interaction in solids and excited by an off-resonance rf pulse, is calculated analytically using the algebraic computer program MAPLE. The results are valid for arbitrary values of the rf amplitude, co], quadrupolar coupling, WQ, and offset, A ~o, and applied to the analysis of cases where the offset term is not negligible. The treatment can be readily modified to include a second-order quadrupolar interaction during the pulse.
