✦ Synopsis
show good agreement with the experimental data irrespective of the waveguide wall thickness. A small difference between them is considered due to the manufacturing error of two cross apertures.
4. CONCLUSION
A rigorous and efficient analysis of an arbitrary-shaped multiaperture-coupled directional coupler between two rectangular waveguides crossing with an arbitrary angle is performed using the finite element᎐boundary integral method. Due to the property of FE᎐BIM, the method can characterize the coupler structure with an arbitrary-shaped multiaperture without the discretization of the entire waveguide region. In order to reduce the computation time, the potential Green's function for a rectangular waveguide is accelerated with the Poisson summation formula and the Kummer transform, together with the proper treatment of singularities in the triangular surface boundary integral occurring in BIM, which ensures the efficiency of the method.
