Abstract

Blood biomarkers of omega‐3 (ω3) fatty acids can be used as markers of optimal health and disease risk. Rapid, high‐throughput and cost efficient fatty acid analyses would enable routine clinical screening for ω3 fatty acid status by health professionals. Clinical monitoring of ω3 fatty acid status of individuals would enable prevention strategies for cardiovascular disease and prenatal nutrition.
