✦ Synopsis
A plasma oscillation glow discharge detector for gas chromatography was studied for use in the analysis of organic analytes. The influences of chemical structure on peak shape response and the calibration curves are studied by analyzing three to five members of each of five homologous series of n-alkanes, 1-alkenes, 1-alkynes, 2-ketones, and 1-alcohols. The linear calibration curves from 0.01 mg to 10 mg are obtained for the alkanes, alkenes, and alkynes. A Tiropyramid, used in an antispasmodic drug, has been determined in blood and has a detection limit of 2 1 10 016 mol/ml and recoveries of 95 to 105%, which show the possible use of this sensitive detector for routine pharmacokinetic studies.
