✦ Synopsis

Biosensor membranes with glucose oxidase, covalently bound to acetylcellulose carriers activated with urea, were prepared and tested in order to evaluate their application in measuring the glucose concentration in blood serum and plasma. A computerinterfaced measurement and research system was used to obtain data about the characteristics of the constructed biosensors. Stability (less than 7.5% change in sensitivity for 20 days by overnight storage at 25"C), biocompatibility

(2.2-2.4% loss of sensitivity after 10 blood samples) and acceptable correiation with conventional methods were found to be the main advantages of the biosensors thus obtained.
